What's in a name?

A very old (sorry Sue) friend asked me yesterday how I chose my pen-name.

Well Alice is from my own very favourite book as a child - 'Alice In Wonderland'.

I loved reading about her adventures and of course with all good books readers often identify with the characters. I always dreamt of having long blond hair like Alice and enjoyed immersing myself in her bizarre fantasies

White was my mother's maiden name - well actually it would have been Bianchi had her father not changed his name to the English version when he moved here from Italy.

My publisher name - Gossage Vears Publications also is made up of family names. Gossage being my maternal grandmother's maiden name and Vears my paternal grandmother's.

What names would you use if you were writing a book?
